5th Season 8K – 46:09

Yeah, I didn't pay for the image :)
Yeah, I didn't pay for the image :)

It was wet, rainy and once again Michelle and I had a 4th of July party the night before. Needless to say, I was not in tip top shape (dang, flippy cup). I decided to ditch my attempt for a PR in the 8k distance and instead run with Katie. We cruised through the first two miles and then caught up with some more friends who we ran with. Most years, I would be struggling to keep my breath and listening to headphones, so it was a good change to be able to talk and run at a slower pace. We were running 10:00 miles in the beginning and picked it up at the end to finish in 46:09. The nice thing about running at a slower pace is the other runners around you are very encouraging. At least five times, I heard “good job” or “way to go, keep it up”. Overall, I was satisfied with the run. Next year, I’ll go for that PR…
